A vintage classic, modernized. We looked at the designs from the early modern era of horn playing and wanted to see what we could learn about the sound and response players of that era preferred. We were striving for that vinyl sound but without the wolf notes and intonation issues that were common of the day.
The sound has a warm dense core and is lively when pushed but has smooth, gentle attacks. Great for when you don’t want as much “ping” on the start of your notes as the modern offerings provide. You get very good control over the level of diffusion in the sound too so you can float out pp and ppp passages with a more comfortable air stream.
Also be advised - to recreate the sound and feeling of the vintage pieces we had to leave some of the inefficiency in the design. These are a bit more work to play than our other cups (though they compare favorably to the designs of the past).
