The cup shape is inspired by a Farkas / "Chicago"-style mouthpiece but with a cup depth and backbore optimized for the Alexander lead pipe. The result is responsive in all registers; very good high range, flexible slurs, great intonation and clear-but-not-harsh attacks. Oh - and an F side with the intonation and power you were told Alexanders don't have.
You don't have to take my word for it though: Brad Gemeinhardt, Principal horn of the 14-time-grammy-winning Met Opera and Alex 1106 player said of it "I'm loving it and can't imagine playing on anything else, honestly..."
Alex lead pipes are very open and use a bigger shank so these play like a 12-16 would in an American style lead pipe.
