Horn rims are all pretty stubbornly narrow with few exceptions. This derives from the continental european history of the instrument (Though not even really! According to Duprat rims up to 20mm were in use for low players in France). If your lips aren't thin like a 17th century Frenchman's you might find yourself wanting something wider.
We were inspired by Eb Alto (Tenor) horn mouthpieces; despite having 18 or 18.5mm rims feel completely different from horn rims of the same diameter. The Alto mouthpieces are an extension of the Trumpet/Trombone/Tuba family designs and there's no reason this shouldn't be available to horn players as well. We've also found members of the horn family with similar ideas including Dennis Wicks mouthpieces and the Neil Sanders designs.
The rim plays well in all registers and has a nice response despite its large size. Whether you're looking for something big or just looking for something different the X will offer that to you without any compromise in the acoustic performance of the cup.
18.5mm ID, 27.2 OD with a large radius bite. Very flexible and comfortable but will take some adjustment if coming from a more standard profile.
