Model G Cup
Model G Cup
Back in stock!
G for "Geyer" - this design pairs perfectly with the American classic; the Geyer-style horn. Inspired by a Carl Geyer original and modified slightly to meet modern tastes and demands, it plays with good flexibility & resistance to produce a rich, bright sound.
Sized in a #19 for a efficient response but it maintains powerful fff and a good, clean low register. If you were using a larger bore size mouthpiece in the past to get acceptable results in the low register the open backbore on this design makes it so you can have your cake and eat it too - efficient easy high register and flexible lows.
This is also our recommendation for descant and triple horns with American receivers. It keeps a true "horn" sound throughout and retains a good amount of complexity to the sound when used with high Eb and high F horns.
Used in major symphonies across the United States including by Detroit Symphony Acting Principal Patrick Walle who plays it on his Standard Bore Hill triple.
Patrick said of the model G:
"I had been searching for a cup like the g cup for a long time. Incredible control in the upper register with a full balanced sound! A perfect solution for the modern high horn player."
Since there are as many "Geyer" horns from makers today as there are Muni stops in San Francisco, we offer a family of Geyer models. You might also consider the Model GM for it's more flexible color palate or the Model GS for its smoothness.
