Model GS Cup
Model GS Cup
Back ordered, more on the way!
GS is for "Geyer Studio" - this is a studio-optimized mouthpiece for your Geyer type horn. What makes this a studio mouthpiece are its outstanding smoothness and malleability while retaining good slots for accuracy.
The cup is deeper than the Model G and the backbore is more open to create that velvety sound. The backbore has been carefully optimized to let you find notes comfortably yet open enough to let the pitch slide in the transition between notes rather than just notching in.
Our tester noted "My initial impressions were correct. That’s a great mouthpiece for [my Geyer]. It sings. It has great intonation in all the registers. High Bb and C are in tune and slot great. The low register is open and feels comfortable without backing up which can happen if the cup and backbore flow aren’t even. That’s a very good combination. The slurs are very smooth, the articulation feels very easy and light without backing up".
This isn't however a mouthpiece for adverse or challenging halls - it has enough power and sound for most situations but if you need the most cutting power head over to the Model G. If you need more ping in the articulation and more bright colors in the palate (at the expense of some of that smoothness) the Model GM might be for you.
