Silver plated rims

Hey everyone, now that we've gotten through manufacturing and supply chain hell to return Titanium rims to production, we are moving the silver plated rims to special order and raising the prices for them.

The reasons are two-fold.  While brass stock is much cheaper, the level of effort needed to polish and plate the rims is much higher than with Titanium.  With Ti - a buffing & clean is all that's needed to get a rim out the door after it comes off the lathe.  Plating is much more involved, requiring multiple cleaning and polishing steps and to do it at any scale is a weeks-long wait to send them out and get them back.  With availability of working hours is the major bottle neck here at Strachan Brass, we needed to make a change.

Also we believe Ti rims have a more pleasing sound, have a more responsive feel and are essentially wear-proof; unlike coated rims they will never wear out and are extremely difficult to nick with a drop.  We're also pleased to be the only major maker offering them through our substantial investment in tooling and processes for dealing with this tricky-to-machine metal.

We're leaving Ti rims at $85 alone or complete with a cup for $170.  Silver is going up to $110/195 to reflect the labor required to make them.  Some of you will prefer the brass offerings, either for feel or sound, and we're pleased to be able to continue offering them; but we want to encourage you to try a Titanium one as a first choice!
